Scene 2: A Memory of Love

Interior ANCIENT VILLAGE – DAY

The scene shifts to a long time ago, in an ancient village. The village is alive with celebration, adorned with flowers and filled with joyous villagers. BE-EL stands beside BEATRICE, both dressed in elegant, traditional garments, signifying their wedding day.

Exterior VILLAGE SQUARE – DAY

A crowd has gathered to celebrate the union. Music plays, and people dance around a large bonfire. The atmosphere is filled with happiness and excitement.

BEATRICE (smiling, looking into Be-el’s eyes) I never imagined this day would come, Be-el. To be united with you, forever.

BE-EL (tenderly) I have waited for this moment for so long, Beatrice. My heart is yours, now and forever.

BEATRICE (giggling) And to think, I used to believe the village tales about angels being distant and untouchable.

BE-EL (grinning) Well, I suppose I’m the exception. I couldn’t resist your charm.

They share a kiss, and the crowd cheers. Among the villagers, other GUARDIANS, sent by God to protect humanity, watch the celebration. They too have fallen for the charms of mortal life and human love.

GUARDIAN 1 (to GUARDIAN 2) Look at them. Who would’ve thought we’d find ourselves here, celebrating like mere mortals?

GUARDIAN 2 (nodding) It’s a strange fate, but one that brings joy. Perhaps this is where we were meant to be all along.

Exterior VILLAGE SQUARE – NIGHT

As night falls, the celebration continues. AZRAEL, another guardian, stands with his own wife, smiling as he watches Be-el and Beatrice.

AZRAEL (contentedly) Isn’t it wonderful, Be-el? To find love and happiness among these people. I never thought it possible.

BE-EL (nods) It’s more than I ever dreamed. This love, this life… it feels right, even though we know it breaks the rules.

AZRAEL (chuckling) Rules were meant to be broken, my friend. Especially when it comes to matters of the heart.

They laugh, clinking their goblets together in a toast.

BE-EL (seriously) Azrael, do you ever fear what might come? If we are discovered?

AZRAEL (pausing) Sometimes. But then I look at her, and all those fears melt away. Love is worth the risk, don’t you think?

BE-EL (smiling) I do. More than anything.

Exterior VILLAGE SQUARE – LATER THAT NIGHT

The firelight flickers as the celebration winds down. The guardians, now deeply integrated into human life, sit together, discussing their choices.

GUARDIAN 1 (speaking softly) We were sent to guide and protect, but here we are, living among them, loving them. Do you ever think about the consequences?

GUARDIAN 2 (sighing) Every day. But how can something that feels so right be wrong?

GUARDIAN 3 (musing) Perhaps we were meant to experience this. To understand humanity fully, we had to live as they do.

AZRAEL (raising his goblet) To love, and to the lives we have chosen. May we find peace and happiness, no matter the cost.

BE-EL (joining the toast) To love. And to forever.

Exterior VILLAGE – NIGHT

Be-el and Beatrice walk hand in hand through the village, enjoying the quiet night air. The sounds of the celebration fade into the background.

BEATRICE (resting her head on Be-el’s shoulder) Do you think we’ll always be this happy?

BE-EL (softly) As long as we’re together, I believe so. Our love will see us through any trial.

BEATRICE (smiling) You’re right. We have each other, and that’s all that matters.

They stop by a small stream, the moonlight reflecting off the water.

BE-EL (kneeling by the stream) This place, this moment… it’s perfect. I want to remember it forever.

BEATRICE (sitting beside him) We’ll make many more memories like this. Our life together is just beginning.

Exterior VILLAGE SQUARE – NIGHT

Back at the celebration, the guardians continue their conversation.

GUARDIAN 4 (serious) Do you ever think about the day we might be called back?

GUARDIAN 5 (firmly) No. This is our home now. Our place is here, with those we love.

AZRAEL (nodding) Agreed. We’ve made our choice. And we will stand by it.

GUARDIAN 1 (softly) I hope you’re right. But there’s always a part of me that wonders…

GUARDIAN 2 (interrupting) No more doubts. Tonight, we celebrate. To our new lives and our newfound happiness.

Interior BE-EL AND BEATRICE’S HOME – NIGHT

Be-el and Beatrice enter their home, a small but cozy cottage. They light candles and sit by the fireplace.

BE-EL (gazing at Beatrice) You make everything feel right, Beatrice. I can’t imagine life without you.

BEATRICE (teasing) Well, you won’t have to. You’re stuck with me now, angel.

They laugh and hold each other close.

BE-EL (serious) Promise me, no matter what happens, we’ll face it together.

BEATRICE (looking into his eyes) I promise. Together, always.

Exterior VILLAGE SQUARE – NIGHT

The celebration continues with dancing and singing. The villagers and guardians are united in their joy, oblivious to any potential consequences.

GUARDIAN 3 (to GUARDIAN 4) Look at them. So happy, so unaware of the dangers.

GUARDIAN 4 (smiling) Maybe that’s a blessing. To live without fear, even if just for a night.

Interior BE-EL AND BEATRICE’S HOME – NIGHT

Be-el and Beatrice sit by the fire, lost in their own world.

BEATRICE (softly) Do you ever miss the heavens?

BE-EL (thoughtfully) Sometimes. But being with you makes everything worth it. This is where I belong.

BEATRICE (smiling) I’m glad you feel that way. Because I can’t imagine my life without you.

BE-EL (holding her close) And you never will. We are one now, bound by love.

Exterior VILLAGE SQUARE – NIGHT

As the night wears on, the celebrations begin to quiet down. The guardians and villagers bid each other goodnight, retreating to their homes.

AZRAEL (to BE-EL) Tonight was perfect. A night to remember.

BE-EL (smiling) Indeed, it was. Thank you for being here, Azrael.

AZRAEL (nodding) Always, my friend. Always.

FADE OUT.

Interior BE-EL AND BEATRICE’S HOME – NIGHT

The scene fades to Be-el and Beatrice lying together, watching the fire’s embers glow.

BE-EL (softly) Sleep now, my love. Tomorrow is a new day, and we’ll face it together.

BEATRICE (closing her eyes) Goodnight, Be-el. I love you.

BE-EL (whispering) I love you too, Beatrice. Forever.

FADE OUT.
